Input Modes

Multiple ways to create your configurator: chat, photos, URLs, PDFs, and data files.

Choose how you provide product data

Spokbee offers five different input modes for creating a configurator. Each mode is optimized for a different type of source material. You can use multiple modes on the same product — for example, start with a URL scrape and then refine with chat.

Chat

Describe your product in a natural conversation. Tell the AI what your product is, what options customers can choose, how pricing works, and what combinations are valid. The AI extracts parameters, options, pricing rules, and constraints from your description and generates a complete schema.

This is the most flexible mode. You can describe complex products step by step, and the AI will ask clarifying questions when needed. Great for products where you have all the information in your head but no structured data file.

Photo Upload

Upload up to 5 product images (JPEG, PNG, or WebP, max 5 MB each). The AI analyzes the images to detect visual variants: different colors, finishes, sizes, and configurations. It then generates a schema based on what it sees.

Photo upload works best when your images clearly show the different options — for example, a product shot in each available color. The uploaded images are also available as assets you can assign to parameter combinations later.

URL Scraping

Paste a product page URL from any website. Spokbee crawls the page, extracts the product data, and generates a configurator schema. The process uses server-sent events (SSE) to show you real-time progress through 4 phases:

  1. Fetching — downloading the page HTML and any structured data (JSON-LD, Open Graph).
  2. Extracting — identifying product name, options, variants, pricing, and images.
  3. Generating — converting extracted data into a Spokbee schema.
  4. Finalizing — validating and cleaning up the schema.

URL scraping handles most e-commerce platforms including Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, and custom product pages. It also downloads product images automatically.

PDF Import

Upload a product catalog or specification sheet (max 30 MB). The AI reads the document page by page, extracting product specifications, option tables, pricing information, and dimensional constraints.

PDF import is ideal for manufacturers who already have printed catalogs, data sheets, or product specification documents. The AI handles tables, bullet lists, and structured layouts well.

Data / Code

Paste or upload structured data in any of 15+ supported formats: JSON, YAML, CSV, XML, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Excel (.xlsx), and more. Spokbee uses a 3-pass AI pipeline to interpret the data:

  1. Parse — detect the format and extract raw structure.
  2. Interpret — understand what the data represents (options, prices, rules).
  3. Generate — produce a valid Spokbee schema from the interpreted data.

This mode is especially useful when you already have product data in a spreadsheet, ERP export, or code definition.

When to use each mode

PhotoPhysical products with visible variantsUp to 5 images (JPEG/PNG/WebP, 5 MB each)

Tip: You can combine modes. Start with a URL scrape to get the basics, then refine using chat to add missing constraints or pricing rules.
